Three shows, three different personalities
Tiffany's, in Pattaya, is the original — running continuously since 1974, with a Broadway-leaning polish to its staging and a roughly 1,000-seat purpose-built theatre. Alcazar, also in Pattaya, opened in 1981 in a larger venue seating around 1,200, generally built around more individual acts packed into a similar overall runtime, and is often positioned as the more accessible, larger-scale option of the two. Calypso, in Bangkok, opened later still, in 1988, with a different guiding philosophy — framing itself around performer artistry rather than costume-driven spectacle — staged in a riverside setting at the Asiatique night market rather than a standalone theatre district.

Runtime is broadly similar across all three shows — roughly 60 to 75 minutes — so the practical differences that matter most to visitors come down to seat count, general ticket price tier, and travel time from wherever you're staying rather than dramatic differences in length. Tiffany's trades on being the original and on a more polished, Broadway-leaning staging style; Alcazar's larger venue and longer act list suit visitors who specifically want more spectacle and more acts within a similar evening; Calypso's smaller, artistry-focused format and Asiatique riverside setting suit a Bangkok-based evening that doesn't require any trip out to Pattaya at all.
Why your base decides more than preference
For most visitors, location narrows the choice down before personal taste in staging style even comes into play: if you're staying in Pattaya, both Tiffany's and Alcazar are a short taxi or songthaew ride away and can realistically be combined with the same evening's dinner plans, while Calypso means a deliberate trip through Bangkok traffic that only makes sense if you're already based there. If you're in Bangkok without a dedicated Pattaya day planned into your itinerary, Calypso at Asiatique — with riverside dining and shopping built directly around the theatre — is a considerably more practical evening than a return trip to Pattaya purely for a cabaret show.
Building a full evening, not just a show
Whichever cabaret you choose, it's worth treating it as the anchor of a full evening rather than the entire plan for the night. In Pattaya, several ticket options pair the Tiffany's or Alcazar showtime with a Thai set-menu dinner beforehand, and Beach Road or Walking Street give you somewhere lively to go once the curtain comes down. In Bangkok, Asiatique's riverside food stalls and shops work well on either side of a Calypso showtime, and the short river ferry ride out to the venue is often treated by visitors as part of the evening's entertainment rather than just transport.
After the curtain
At Tiffany's in particular, the cast comes out to the front of the theatre in full costume for photographs once the show has finished, which is a popular way to close out the night but does add time to your schedule — budget a further 15 to 20 minutes if you want to join in and take your own photos with performers. A small tip or set fee is customary for a photo with an individual performer, so it's worth having some cash on hand. Factor that buffer into your plans if you have dinner reservations, a transfer, or a late-night flight booked straight afterwards.
